OverviewThis book provides a thorough analysis of the complex relationship between obesity and ageing. It sheds light on the shared physiological pathways and biological modulators that accelerate ageing in the context of obesity. With the global population ageing and obesity rates increasing, understanding these connections is crucial for public health. The chapters cover key topics such as the role of gut microbiota, and the impact of metabolic inflammation on health and lifespan. Expert contributors provide critical analyses and evidence-based recommendations for managing obesity to promote healthy ageing. Readers will encounter discussions on dietary patterns, the Mediterranean diet, and innovative interventions like caloric restriction mimetics and gerobiotics. This volume is an essential resource for researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers interested in the intersection of obesity and ageing. It offers valuable insights into the biological causes of these conditions and practical strategies for improving health outcomes in older adults. Whether you are a scholar in gerontology, a clinician, or a public health advocate, this book provides the latest research and expert perspectives to inform your work and enhance your understanding of these pressing issues.
