Kelly McCarten wrote Oakley the Otter and His 2 Dens to give children a gentle, reassuring story about life after divorce. As a mother who understands the challenges families face during times of change, her kids were 5 and 2 years old. She wanted to create a book that helps kids feel loved, supported, and safe-no matter which home they're in. Leslie McCarten Gardner after 40 years in British Columbia, she now calls Nova Scotia home. She is a high school science teacher and tutor who loves the ocean, outdoors, family and animals. Her spare time is spent walking her German Shepherds, exercising her horses and practising her art.
