1:1 No princípio era o Verbo, e o Verbo estava com Deus, e o Verbo era Deus. 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 1:2 Ele estava no princípio com Deus. 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. 1:3 Todas as coisas foram feitas por intermédio dele, e sem ele nada do que foi feito se fez. 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 1:4 Nele estava a vida, e a vida era a luz dos homens. 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 1:5 E a luz resplandece nas trevas, e as trevas não a compreenderam. 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 1:6 Houve um homem enviado por Deus, cujo nome era João. 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 1:7 Este veio como testemunha, para dar testemunho da luz, para que todos os homens cressem por meio dele. 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 1:8 Ele não era a Luz, mas foi enviado para dar testemunho daquela Luz. 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
