Segundo várias fontes orais, o bwiti foi transmitido aos Pové pelos Massango, seus vizinhos em redor do Monte Iboundji. É de notar que este bwiti, recebido pelos Massango, foi desenvolvido pelos Pové. De todos os ramos do bwiti Misoko, os Pové praticam mais o ngondè, o mabundi e o mioba. Na província de Ogooué-Lolo, apenas uma família é reconhecida como mioba.
