Author Information

Kathleen Chapman, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, is a Certified Nursing Administrator and Healthcare Executive and Fellow with several decades of successful leadership experience within the Department of Veterans Affairs in Portland, Oregon, USA where she has served in the roles of Deputy Medical Center Director and Chief Nursing Officer and Acting Chief Operations Officer. She is currently Deputy Director for Patient Care Services for this organization, a position she has held from 2006 until the present time. During her tenure at the VA, Ms. Chapman spent time in Washington, DC to represent Veterans Health Nursing in the national development and implementation of Transformational Goal 7: the Patient-Centered Medical Home. She also guided the development of the Nursing Professional Practice Model, which included shaping national policies and implementing associated educational programs.
