Darlene Sredl, Ph.D., R.N., B.S.N., M.S.N., M.H.A., Licensed Pilot, is a nurse educator, theorist, author, and pilot. Dr. Sredl held the position of Teaching Professor of Nursing at the University of Missouri-St. Louis' College of Nursing and is responsible for the development of two nursing theories: Aerohemodynamics, a grand theory for nursing in the flight environment, and the Triangle Technique, a mid-range theory designed for calculating pediatric medications.Dr. Sredl has written over 90 professional articles and six books. One of her works, Airborne Patient Care Management: A Multidisciplinary Approach, was developed in collaboration with the government of Chile and adopted as the official air evacuation manual. Pilot Quest, a work of fiction, incorporates a background describing the rigors of flight training.Other publications by Dr. Sredl include Evidence-Based Success Strategies for Nurse Administrators and Advanced Practice Nurses (APNs) and Aero Nursing News, a journal focused on aviation physiology. Dr. Sredl also founded AV-Nurse International, a journal that educates and dispatches flight nurses and provides corporate consultation to aviation departments from organizations such as Monsanto, Salt Lake City Hospital, St. Louis Children's Hospital, Webster University, University of Missouri-St. Louis, and Broward Community College. Dr. Sredl is a member of the Aerospace Medical Association.
