"Marty became concerned about math education when her own children struggled in math at top public schools. Although able to help her sons, and they have gone on to major in math and physics in college, she realized most children who run into such hiccups would not be so fortunate. Marty started tutoring and substitute teaching in math and was distressed to find key math building blocks missing among so many children. This led to the ""aha"" realization that this issue is pervasive, forever altering the future of millions of children. SMILING DOG MATH books are her way of helping by establishing and strengthening critical math building blocks in a fun, effective way-through amusing stories, silly characters, strategic use of rhyme, coloring, and plenty of practice. Marty graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Williams College where she studied economics and psychology. She excelled in statistics en route to getting a master's degree at the Pennsylvania State University with a perfect 4.0 GPA, and she also has an MBA with honors from Harvard."
