Overview

This is a series of case studies that describe problems and pose questions that can be used by educational media students or professional development workshops. The case situations fall outside the subject matter of traditional library media curriculums and include topics on the smaller issues (emergencies etc.) and on bigger issues such as planning, policies, and personnel. Incorporated within the cases ar the concepts on information literacy found in the ""Information Power: Building Partnerships for Learning"" guide issued by the American Association of School Librarians in 1998.

Presents some 60 problematical situations, arranged by topic, that can challenge library or educational media teachers in the course of their daily work in schools. Problems addressed include medical, physical plant, personal, personnel, and information highway emergencies and ongoing problems relating to planning, policies, and personnel. Each situation concludes with questions about how the problem may best be handled. Numerous appendices provide further information and resources. Reference and Research Book News The authors present a good view of planning, policies, and personnel from professional practice, and the text is well written and accessible.
