Overview

Welcome to this novena, which is devoted to asking the Holy Spirit to bestow upon us the graces that support and direct us as we follow Him. A nine-day period of concentrated prayer and contemplation, the novena is a potent tradition in the Catholic Church that has its roots in the spirituality and long history of the Church.Seeking the outpouring of the Holy Spirit's gifts is especially appropriate at the Feast of Pentecost, which marks the birth of the Church and the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles. We can experience the Holy Spirit's presence and empowerment for our mission as Christ's disciples, just as He did for the apostles, who were changed and given newfound confidence. The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit-wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord-will be discussed throughout this novena as we pray for the ability to receive and develop these talents in our life. Let's be open to the Holy Spirit's promptings as we begin our prayer journey, putting our full faith in His direction and submission to His plan. May this prayer period strengthen our bond with the Holy Spirit and bring us nearer to God's heart.
