Novel Nanocarriers for Skin Diseases: Advances and Applications

Overview

This new volume explores advances that have been achieved in the effective use of nanocarriers as drug delivery systems to address skin diseases. It presents the progress in the treatment via nanocarriers of acne, dermatitis, psoriasis, and infections. It also looks at follicular delivery as a promising strategy due to reduced particle size of these drug delivery systems. In the first section of the book, the authors cover the use of nanocarriers for skin cancer, topical nanotherapeutics for acne, and topical amphotericin B for fungal diseases. In section two, the chapters discuss nanocarriers for several skin diseases, highlighting relevant information on nanoformulations designed for skin treatment. Chapters on natural ingredients for skin disease treatments are presented as well. The role of lipid and polymeric carriers for psoriasis, acne, and dermatitis are discussed, as well as the use of natural polymers and vegetable compounds for skin disease treatment. Some of the skin diseases discussed include cutaneous Leishmaniasis, skin cancer, acne vulgaris, and atopic dermatitis. Some of the treatment methods described include transdermal drug delivery systems, topical nanotherapeutics, siRNA delivery for the management of skin disorders, among many others. Key features: Discusses the principles of nanotechnology in skin delivery for the prevention and treatment of disease Explores the role of nanoparticles and natural/vegetable compounds in the prevention of skin diseases Novel Nanocarriers for Skin Diseases: Advances and Applications presents vital information for scientists and researchers in this exciting area of drug delivery research for skin diseases.
