A STORY OF THE 1847 TAOS REVOLT AGAINST THE AMERICAN OCCUPATION OF NEW MEXICO On Thursday, January 19, 1847, long-simmering tensions erupted in bloodshed in Taos, New Mexico, brought to a head by the recent American takeover during the Mexican American War.
