OverviewNastassia Page graduated from Camberwell College of Arts' esteemed Book Art (MA) course in 2007 with flying colours. Noted Too is her first book. Forming the book element of Page Reference - a book, installation and online artwork by Nastassia Page, Noted Too is a collection of haunting and inspired images juxtaposed with small but potent phrases and one-liners. In keeping with Page's love of the 'mundane' and everyday, the images in Noted Too are taken with a mobile phone camera and consist of the easily overlooked subjects that she observes in day-to-day life. An image of a broken paving slab is given the pleading caption 'Don't forget me'. A large tin of sweets is meticulously ordered into groups by shape and colour and recorded. Page shows us the strange, alien images that result after trying to photograph the back of her new haircut. A series of public notice boards are photographed, some proudly bursting with information, some long-ago abandoned and forgotten. Through minimal text, Page skilfully builds up a voice which alternates in its emotion. Sometimes it is formal, in control and slightly stern, 'Please can you listen'. Other times it is warm, playful and humorous 'Pleased to meteor', 'Whatever happened to the seeds in grapes', 'We meet'. At times the voice takes on the desperation of the pleading images it has been representing, 'Please find me'. Finally, towards the end of Noted Too, it simply states 'I would be lost / Without you'. This alternating voice, combined with the considered use of repetition of image, form and blank pages, gives Noted Too its poetic rhythm. Ultimately, Noted Too is indeed a poem: a 152 page poem made up of images and small bursts of text. A poem that sometimes humbly and discreetly, sometimes with elation, celebrates the recognizably everyday. This book is dedicated to you. The first 50 editions of Noted Too will be signed and numbered by the artist.
