This collective gift takes us on a compelling psychoanalytic journey that covers great distances, as its contributors are long-established psychoanalysts from all over the world.Reading it also entails putting into practice Shmuel Erlich's suggestion that when we embark on the road to knowledge, we should maintain a tension between knowing and not-knowing. This position is consistent with the contemporary philosophical tendency to restore the notion of ignorance to its true value. We must rid ourselves of a knowledge that may prevent us from coming into contact with the essence of things. There's a trace here of Bion's concept of learning from experience. Mira Erlich-Ginor is a training and supervising analyst in the Israel Psychoanalytic Society. Mira is involved in Group Relations work - the application of psychoanalytic understanding to group, organizational and societal issues. Founding member and Past Chairperson OFEK, Israel. Founding member and secretary, PCCA, Partners in Confronting Collective Atrocities. Shmuel Erlich is past-President of the Israel Psychoanalytic Society; Training and Supervising Analyst and Faculty member of the Israel Psychoanalytic Institute; Sigmund Freud Professor of Psychoanalysis (Emeritus) and former Director of the Freud Center at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Was European Regional Representative on the IPA Board and chair of the IPA Education Committee. He has published on psychoanalytic and applied subjects.
