The tall sentinels from Bald Head to Currituck are lonely no more. By clothing each in lore revealing a distinctive history and personality, North Carolina Lighthouses breathes life into all of them ... Gracefully written and artfully illustrated, this tribute is more than handsome picture book; it records the gripping history of a vanishing humanitarian mission conducted by courageous North Carolinians who risked their own lives fo the sake of others. --H.G. Jones, The North Carolina Society, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill For more than a decade, Bruce and Cheryl Shelton-Roberts have been immersed in the search for North Carolina lighthouse history and lore. As a result, they have become, without question, the leading authorities on the subject. In this splendid volume, through Bruce's photography and Cheryl's prose, they present the reader with a comprehensive look at North Carolina lighthouses. --David Stick, Outer Banks author and historian
