Author Information

Prof. P. Srinivasan has a rich experience of over three decades in engineering teaching, research guidance, and industrial consultation as a specialist in engineering dynamics, experimental vibration and mechanical engineering. He has guided several research scholars towards their Ph.Ds. He has contributed to over 125 articles published in national and international journals of repute. Prof. Srinivasan has authored 'Mechanical Vibration Analysis' (1982, 1990 2nd edition) published by Tata McGraw-Hill. After a brilliant academic career at the University of Mysore and postgraduate research at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Prof. Srinivasan obtained his MS degree from Illinois Institute of Technology (Illinois-Tech), Chicago, and ME degree from California Institute of Technology (Cal-Tech), Pasadena, USA. Professor Srinivasan was a visiting research professor at the University of Concordia, Canada. He has been instrumental in establishing a school in Nonlinear Analysis of mechanical systems at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, which has emphasised in particular the quality aspects of nonlinear vibration analysis by optimisation, standardisation, and operationalisation of instruments, equipments and structures of 'Hi-Q' and 'Hi-tech' designs.
