Overview

Collins Big Cat supports every primary child on their reading journey from phonics to fluency. Top authors and illustrators have created fiction and non-fiction books that children love to read. Levelled for guided and independent reading, each book includes ideas to support reading. Teaching and assessment support and eBooks are also available. From helping the ocean waves rise and fall to keeping us from floating away, gravity plays a big role in our lives! Learn all about how gravity works and why it's so important for everything around us. Lime/Band 11 books have longer sentence structures and a greater use of literary language. Pages 30 and 31 allow children to re-visit the content of the book, supporting comprehension skills, vocabulary development and recall. Ideas for reading in the back of the book provide practical support and stimulating activities.

Author Information

Communicating science to people who aren’t necessarily familiar with any of the concepts is one of the things Emma most enjoys about her work. She wanted to bring a friendly, fun tone to a really fundamental topic — gravity — in the hope that even reluctant non-fiction readers would enjoy the text, and keep reading and learning.
