Overview

Whenever a photo book mentions ""the Mongol Nomad"", you may suppose it would be a book showing the peoples who are living in a steppe with livestock. Instead, this book focuses on the relationship between nomadic people and their belongings. What kind of things exist in their living world? How nomadic peoples recognize and treat those things? This book describes the daily lives of Mongol nomads through their material culture which has not been basked in the limelight so far.Using data collected through cultural anthropology fieldwork, this book shows photos of a nomadic family and their belongings, as well as narratives told by the family members concerning those belongings. These narratives introduce the family history. Through the story of the Enkhbat family and their belongings, you will be familiar with the nomadic life in modern Mongolia.
