Overview

As writers of history and biographies we could only dream of being able to chronicle the life of such a person as Eva Deutschkron. Faced with being transported or perhaps shot by the Nazis just because they were Jews, Eva and her husband disappeared into the underground in 1942. For the remainder of World War II they continued to work and live right in the Berlin area without being apprehended by the dreaded Gestapo. This is an intriguing story of heroic and ingenious people who were blessed by having valuable trade skills and the help of many people who were willing to defy the laws enacted by one of the cruellest governments in history. Eva and Martin eventually immigrated to America and became successful business owners and operators in Madison, Wisconsin.
