Overview

From the late 1960s until the early 1990s the Canadian government, assisted by the RCMP, conducted a comprehensive program of harassment of Gays and Lesbians in the Canadian Armed Forces and the Public Service. Several men and women targets of systemic intimidation committed suicide. When RCMP officers involved were stationed in other parts of the country, homophobic harassment continued.
