He then spent two years as an Alexander von Humboldt postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Manfred T. Reetz at the Max Planck Institute für Kohlenforschung. In 2007, he joined the faculty of Peking University as an associate professor, and was promoted to full professor in 2010. His current research focuses on: 1) the development of green and efficient synthetic methodologies through single electron transfer (SET) process; 2) aerobic oxidation, oxygenation, nitrogenation, and halogenation reactions; 3) first-row transition metal catalysis and the inert chemical bonds activation.
