Born on 26th January, 1954, at Itamati of Nayagarh district, Dr. Arun Chandra Sahu retired from government service(OES-I) in 2012 as Professor and Head of P.G. Department of Botany, G. M. Autonomous College, Sambalpur. Though a professor in science, he has keen interest in Odia literature authoring seventeen books on Odia poetry, short story, popular science, including one English poetry apart from twenty three science text books at state and national level. He has received a number of foreign and state awards like International Scientist of the year for 2004, 2007 and 2008 by International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, U.K., Odisha Bigyana Academy Award in 2015 for his book 'Jin Bigyanara Jayajatra', Rajadhani Book Fair Award (2014), Kalinga Book Fair Award (2016), Bhubaneswar Book Fair Award (2017) and Mahesh Prasad Purohit Memorial Award by Odisha Botanical Society (2010) etc.
