OverviewImagine a dimly lit room where a vampire's grin meets a zombie's punchline, intertwining humor with horror to captivate eager readers. Night to Dawn 49 brings together SF and horror stories featuring zombies, vampires, and other monsters. The operative word is humor, as in Margaret L. Carter's ""First Day at Human School,"" which features the struggles a half-breed human/vampire child has trying to make friends with his classmates. Hillary Lyon's ""Dear Maddy"" is reminiscent of Dear Abby. I love the humor in Marc Shapiro's ""Bloody Opinion,"" especially the ending; Mr. Helsing gets a dose of his own poison. But there are plenty of horror tales with grim endings, and a few where the protagonist changes for the better, including: ""The Horror Fan"" by Matthew Wilson ""Where Men Had Seldom Trod"" by Lee Clark Zumpe ""Portal to Hell: Caco-Demon!"" by Rajeev Bhargava ""Bronwen"" by Marge Simon ""All in the Family"" by Rod Marsden ""Glorianna and the Great Beast"" by Linda Barrett ""Imhotep"" by Kendall Evans ""Visitations"" by Christopher T. Dabroski ""Traversing Khunrath's Spheres"" by Lee Clark Zumpe ...and many others, including dark poetry and illustrations by Marge Simon, Sandy DeLuca, Denny E. Marshall, Chris Friend, Elizabeth, Lonnie Weems, Vin Davis, Hattie Pierce, and other contributors.
