In North Delta lived a group so kind, the Magical Hearts, with love in their mind. They saw a need and took a stand to help those struggling who needed a hand . . . When the COVID-19 pandemic left many families facing food insecurity, a group of North Delta residents came together to help. Inspired by a 10-year-old boy's excitement over receiving a gallon of milk, they created a Little Free Food Pantry called ""Nick's Nook,"" named after another local resident whose brief life touched many others. In time, what began as a no-barrier food supply for one community grew to a network of pantries and cupboards across BC providing essentials for living. Nick's Nook is the result of efforts from a wide range of dedicated community members, including United Way BC, the Magical Hearts in North Delta, and many others. From grassroots organizations to government and sports teams, contributors to this project help communities across the province work toward food security. Students from six local Delta schools helped tell the story of Nick's Nook through poetry and illustrations-another testament to the power of working together.
