Nick Maxwell is the tenth Collingwood AFL/VFL premiership captain, leading the team to its fifteenth flag in 2010. He played 208 games bewteen 2004 and 2014, and captained the club from 2009 - 2013. He made the All Australian team in 2009, and won many club accolades. Maxwell made it to AFL level the hard way, having been overlooked in the national draft. He was rookie listed by Collingwood in 2003 and made the most of his opportunities. In 2008, he was handed the number 5 guernsey by his mentor Nathan Buckley, club legend and current coach. Maxwell retired after round 17, 2014 after a season-ending injury. He is much loved by the Collingwood faithful.
