OverviewNick and Aya Travel to Colombia is a book about two siblings, Nick and Aya, exploring Colombia with their parents. Their father George is an environmental scientist who is traveling the world collecting samples of various plants for his research. His trips are often combined with the children's school breaks so that the entire family joins him along the way. This time the journey begins in Barranquilla, followed by Cartagena where the explorers visit The Lost City of Incas, a carnival, a castle and observe things typical of this region of Colombia. They then join a tribe on the Pacific Coast and learn about native flora and fauna and the lifestyle of the Embera people. Afterwards, the adventure takes them to Medellin and the Coffee Axis followed by the capital, Bogota. They try various foods, learn about the tallest palms in the world, visit gold museum, and walk the famous hummingbird trail. The trip ends in San Andres, a Colombian island in the Caribbean Sea, where the kids observe sea life before returning home to the States.
