Overview

It was said that the rugby club had existed since time immemorial, although some of the older members claimed that it had been three years before that - Some rugby teams are sleek, dazzling machines, playing without a foot or a strategy out of place. The 3rd XV are not, to be honest, one of these teams. The wing forward is perpetually offside, the linesman has entirely disappeared and the captain is due to appear in court, having got himself into a spot of bother regarding the Profane Oaths Act of 1745. Lively and engaging, these memoirs offer an often funny, sometimes poignant insight into the lives of the players in a 1930s rugby team, both on and off the pitch.
