OverviewThe transition toward sustainable energy is driven by environmental concerns and fluctuating fossil fuel prices, prompting the exploration of cleaner alternatives for diesel engines. This book investigates the performance and emission characteristics of a Variable Compression Ratio (VCR) CI engine fueled with diesel-diethyl ether (DEE)-ethanol ternary blends. Experimental analysis reveals that the D-DEE5-E10 blend delivers optimal performance, achieving higher brake thermal efficiency and lower fuel consumption compared to pure diesel, along with significant reductions in CO, HC, and smoke emissions. The study further demonstrates that increasing the compression ratio enhances engine efficiency, with the best results observed at CR 20. Overall, the findings highlight the potential of biomass-derived ternary fuel blends as an effective and practical approach for cleaner diesel combustion with minimal engine modifications.
