Classic Works on Textual Criticism and Annotation for the Different Versions of the Treatise on Cold Damage and the Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber. 中医伤寒、金匮版本源流考证、校释经典之作 The Medical Works of Zhang Zhongjing: Historical Evolution and Textual Research The medical writings of Zhang Zhongjing were historically dispersed into various texts on different topics, with multiple manuscript copies circulating. During the Zhiping era of the Northern Song Dynasty, the Bureau for Revising Medical Texts collated and organized them into three books: Treatise on Cold Damage, Synopsis of the Golden Chamber, and Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber. Among these, Treatise on Cold Damage and Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber became essential reading in Traditional Chinese Medicine, while Synopsis of the Golden Chamber was lost for a considerable period. In the Wanli era of the Ming Dynasty, Zhao Kaimei compiled the Complete Writings of Zhang Zhongjing, which included the first two texts, preserving invaluable classical literature for later generations to study Zhang Zhongjing's works. This book primarily examines the transmission of Zhang Zhongjing's works after the Song Dynasty from three perspectives: First, it conducts an in-depth study and discussion of the transmission of Zhao's edition of Treatise on Cold Damage, the newly emerged Synopsis of the Golden Chamber from the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, and two recently discovered versions of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber. This clarifies the attributes of each edition of the three works by Zhang Zhongjing and deepens the understanding of their transmitted versions. Second, it provides a new round of collation and annotation for the three works of Zhang Zhongjing (using Wu Qian's manuscript for Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber) and two related Dunhuang manuscript fragments. While building upon previous scholarly insights, it also incorporates new research and discoveries by the author's team. Third, it conducts a comparative tabular study of the three transmitted versions-Treatise on Cold Damage, Synopsis of the Golden Chamber, and Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber-allowing for a detailed analysis of differences in every aspect between the two sets of texts and a more comprehensive grasp of Zhang Zhongjing's works. Centered on textual research, this book systematically examines and comprehensively studies the three works of Zhang Zhongjing, clarifying many previously unresolved horny issue.
