Overview

Forever After presents the untold stories of what happened in New York City schools on 9/11. Moving, first-hand accounts reveal the amazing wisdom and courage of public school teachers and school leaders who cared for and protected the children in schools near the World Trade Center and around the City. Maxine Greene and Michelle Fine, eminent educators, also offer their views on what happened that day and its impact on the lives of teachers and the inner workings of our schools.

Reviews

We set out walking in a long line, but moments after we got outside, the second tower began to fall. Some teachers and students were caught in a black cloud of dust, others were forced back inside the school. My group ran north, hand-in-hand, as fast as we could. - Teacher I was able to maintain communication with the assistant principals, the deans, and the school safety agents via the walkie-talkies.... I thought about the two students in wheelchairs, the blind student, and the student who had just returned from open-heart surgery.... Oh, by the way, this is not in the 'principal's manual.' We had to figure it out step by step. - School principal
