He is a member of the Scientific Council of the Russian Political Sciences Association (RPSA) and the Russian Sociological Society, he teaches courses on Islamic political philosophy and on political systems and political processes in the Arab world. Andrey Korotayev is Head of the Laboratory for Sociopolitical Destabilization Risk Monitoring at HSE University (Russia) and Senior Research Professor at the Institute for African Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. He is the author / co-author of over 600 scholarly publications, including such monographs as Great Divergence and Great Convergence (Springer, 2015) and Islamism,Arab Spring, and the Future of Democracy.
