Author Information

Melody McIver was born and raised in a small town in Arkansas from very humble beginnings. At the age of six, she wrote her first story-a tale about a sad Christmas tree inspired by the Charlie Brown Christmas special. Her love for science fiction began when she would sneak out past bedtime to watch Star Trek with her father, a minister with a master's in theology. He encouraged her to explore spiritual questions, reminding her, ""We shouldn't belittle God to think He would not create other worlds besides ours."" In 1976, Melody became even more convinced of alien life after seeing the ""face"" on Mars on their black-and-white television. Melody nurtured her passion for writing through poetry and by serving as co-feature editor of her school newspaper. After high school, she studied journalism and music. Life took a turn in 1984 when she became a young mother and discovered her first child had severe autism. At the time, little was known about the condition, and the experience became a lifelong learning journey. She later married and had another child who loves books, inspiring her to create bedtime stories like The Mystery of Mystery, a Curious Cat, which she hopes to publish for other children. Her novel New Earth: The Awakening came to her in a dream. Compelled to write, she believes the world needs to ""awaken"" to more love and kindness. Melody lives with her autistic son and two silly cats and stays active on TikTok, Facebook, Lemon8, X, and Bluesky. tiktok.com/@melodymcivertigre
