New Arts

Overview

New Arts by Nisha Bhakoo is a taut, haunting collection of poems that navigates grief, memory, and survival with stark lyricism. Divided into two parts, 'The Art of Dying' and 'Dark Arts, ' the collection moves from intimate scenes of mourning and fractured daily life to explorations of transformation and otherworldliness. Bhakoo's language is tactile and unsparing, intertwining the corporeal and the spectral to expose the undercurrents of loss, longing, and resilience. The poems often collapse temporal and emotional boundaries, offering a vision of life where the dead and the living, the mundane and the mystical, continually brush against one another.
