Overview

An approach bringing ophthalmologists, neurosurgeons and neurologists together has been pioneered by the authors' group at the New York University Medical Center. A multidisciplinary team discusses all types of vascular diseases that may affect a patient's eyes: the orbit, eye and eye muscles as well as the central nervous system pathways for vision and eye movements and pupillary function. The range of vascular diseases includes common illnesses such as arteriosclerosis, aneurysms and migraine, and the exotic ones such as arteriovenous malformations and systemic vasculitis. More than just a compendium of vascular diseases, the book demonstrates an approach to the diagnosis and treatment of cases, particularly emphasizing potentially treatable diseases. The case materials are almost entirely from the files and experience of the authors, and each case makes an important clinical point. The newest advances in neuroimaging technique are also taken into consideration.
