Neuropsychopharmacology is an interdisciplinary science that is related to psychopharmacology and fundamental neuroscience. It is the study of the neural mechanisms on which drugs act upon for influencing behavior. It investigates the mechanisms of neuropathology, pharmacodynamics, psychiatric disease, and states of consciousness. It explains the effects that drugs have at the behavioral and molecular levels.
