"""Neurolinguistic Programming"" is a somewhat obscure expression that actually comprises three simple ideas.The ""Neuro"" part of NLP recognizes the fundamental idea that all behaviors are born from the neurological processes of sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch and sensation. We perceive the world through the five senses. We ""understand"" the information and then we act. Our neurology includes not only the invisible mental processes, but also the physiological reactions to ideas and events. Some reflect others on the physical level. Body and mind form an inseparable unit, a human being.The ""Linguistic"" part of the title indicates that we use language to order our thoughts and behaviors and communicate with others.Programming"" refers to the way we organize our ideas and actions in order to produce results. NLP deals with the structure of subjective human experience, how we organize what we see through our senses. It also examines how we describe it through language and how we act, intentionally or unintentionally, to produce results.When this question is asked by people who have had some training or experience in NLP, it's not that they don't know or have the general notion of what NLP is for them; it's that sometimes they simply experience a challenge when they try to explain NLP to the uninitiated.I understand the challenge well. I have faced it myself, and not always successfully. So, if this book helps any of you to share more succinctly with others what matters to you, in a way that doesn't make them run (!), then I will be satisfied and the book will have reached its goal. So feel free to share with someone who 'doesn't understand' your interest in NLP. It may help shed some light on your reasons for seeking knowledge and skills in NLP.
