He retired in 2008, and is now adjunct professor for the School of Religion at Claremont Graduate University. At the University of the West, California State University-Northridge, he taught Theravada Buddhism and Hinduism as a visiting professor. Shimkhada s most recent edited book is The Constant and Changing Faces of the Goddess: Goddess Traditions of Asia. Niels Gutschow was educated as an architect, planner and architectural historian at Darmstadt University, from where he received his PhD. He has worked in Nepal since 1970.
