David McGill-Soriano was born and raised in Long Beach, California, growing up in the Washington Neighborhood. His work spans public safety and public health. He has: - Founded Books & Buckets, a place-based nonprofit dedicated to civic engagement and sports-based youth development- Reignited a campaign to bring a community center to the Washington Neighborhood- Revitalized the local park he grew up on with a community mural on an outdoor court - Launched the City of Long Beach Office of Youth Development, becoming its first staff memberDavid has been recognized with the Jack R.
