OverviewUsing official British records and CIA files released under the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act, Vyvyan Kinross paints a compelling portrait of a country rearming and re-equipping for the Cold War and rocket age with the help of former German Wehrmacht soldiers, missile scientists, chemical engineers, arms manufacturers and arms dealers. • German Special Forces veterans trained Egypt’s soldiers to fight the British in the Suez Canal Zone and the Israelis in Gaza • If they had been given executive authority and battlefield command, German commanders might have changed outcomes in Egypt’s favour • The British detected German tactics of subversion in Egyptian foreign policy, propaganda and intelligence operations • Egypt used coercive methods to persuade its Jewish population to leave after the Suez crisis of 1956 Full Product DetailsAuthor: Vyvyan KinrossPublisher: Nomad Publishing Imprint: Nomad Publishing Edition: Hmf Dimensions: Width: 14.20cm , Height: 2.50cm , Length: 22.10cm Weight: 0.600kg ISBN: 9781914325229ISBN 10: 1914325222 Pages: 264 Publication Date: 18 November 2022 Audience: General/trade , General Format: Hardback Publisher's Status: Active Availability: In Print ![]() This item will be ordered in for you from one of our suppliers. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationVyvyan Kinross has a long career working as a communications and public relations adviser in the Middle East. Most recently he was a senior adviser at the Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of the Interior, consulting on a major aid development programme, that sought to find ways for the security sector to improve their relationship with the population of the West Bank and Gaza. A PR professional and a former journalist, Vyvyan trained originally as an Arabist and has worked across the Middle East region since the late 1970s. He reported from Iraq on Saddam’s war against the Ayatollah’s revolutionary Iran and went on to help Afghanistan’s new Counter Narcotics Directorate develop a communications strategy as part of the UK’s capacity building programme there. At the time of the so called ‘Arab Spring’, he was based in Abu Dhabi, designing a modern public relations system to improve communication between local government and citizens. Vyvyan serves on the board of the London-based CAABU - the Council for Arab-British Understanding (www.caabu.org) - probably the most active cross-party British NGO working within the UK Parliamentary system to advocate for a British foreign policy in the Middle East, focusing on civil rights and human rights as well as conflict resolution.
