Reviews

Holmes Rolston IIIUniversity Distinguished Professor and Emeritus Professor of Philosophy, Colorado State University, USA The author gives a clear and instructive overview of the attitudes to self and nature in the Western (Greco-Roman), as well as the Eastern (Indian and Chinese) traditions, starting with the environmental problems facing humanity and modern philosophers' attempts to cope with them, in particular the deep ecology of Arne Naess. He focuses on identification as a value that is common to all traditions. Olav AsheimEmeritus Professor of Philosophy, Classics, History of Arts and Ideas, University of Oslo, Norway
