He received his PhD in Comparative Environmental Philosophy and Ethics from the National University of Singapore and a Master's degree in Applied Ethics from Linkoeping University, Sweden, and Utrecht University, the Netherlands. He has published several journal articles on bioethics, political philosophy and environmental ethics, and served as a member of the editorial boards of various academic journals.
