OverviewMany injuries in the foot and ankle are symptomatic of progressive, but reversible, soft tissue deformities. The miracle of the human foot and ankle is the ability to heal and adapt to the environment over a person's lifetime. However, this ability is not absolute. Sometimes these deformities advance to a point that requires the intervention of a skilled limb lengthening surgeon. This book is aimed at anyone with foot or ankle arthritis who wants to cure themselves and maintain a maximally functional foot and ankle. Doctors cannot cure your arthritis. They can sometimes perform valuable surgical procedures that can put you on the road to recovery. As a patient it is up to you to choose the proper procedure to restore your foot and ankle health. This book is intended to help you do that. This book is also aimed at any medical professional who may be unfamiliar with the natural healing approaches covered in this book. None of these techniques are taught in any Medical School. In particular, the information in this book may be valuable to Primary Care Physicians who may be unaware of natural healing techniques in foot and ankle orthopedics and seek to advise their patients of these alternatives. Almost one-third of this book is purposely devoted to shoes. As a whole, proper shoes seem to be of little interest to both the general public and the Orthopedic medical community. Hopefully Orthopedic professionals reading this book will find this information particularly useful and will begin prescribing healthier shoes both for themselves and for their foot and ankle patients.
