National Archive Hunters 2: Eternal Flame

Audio Format

Overview

Fresh off saving the French Four--a quartet of American treasures--and their mom's museum, Carter twins Ike and Iris are back in Washington, D.C., when they're summoned to the National Archives by the FBI Art Crimes Team because the Statue of Liberty is missing. Well, not the statue. But pieces of the flame packed away in 1916 have somehow vanished. The Smithsonian has organized an elaborate, high-profile event around the artifacts in six days--with the presidents of both the U.S. and France set to attend--and the flame's absence will be a national embarrassment. The National Archive Hunters jump into action, learning everything they can about Lady Liberty's construction, including that Gustave Eiffel helped original sculptor Frederic Bartholdi by designing the supports for the flame . . . and that one of Eiffel's original sketches is missing. They need to see what was so important on that page, and that means getting to France, where another set of Eiffel's sketches is housed. Ike and Iris need a French connection tout de suite, or the relationship between America and its oldest ally might be snuffed out.

Author Information

Matthew Landis is an eighth-grade social studies teacher (the one you wish you had). His middle grade books The Not So Boring Letters of Private Nobody, It's the End of the World As I Know It, and Operation Final Notice have won many awards and accolades, including being named an ILA Teacher's Choice and a Bank Street's Best Book. He is also the author of the YA novel League of American Traitors. He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, four kids, thirty-five chickens, and three cats. He hasn't slept well since 2015. As a petite, five-foot-tall half-Japanese actress who was mostly cast in Juliet-esque and sweet girl-next-door roles throughout her film and stage career, Sarah Skaer loves playing beyond her face value within her narrative work: silly and dynamic characters in children's stories, gossipy and cold-as-ice in chick lit, thoughtful and grounded in nonfiction. Her voice can be described as bright, youthful, and warm. Raised between the United States and Japan, Sarah can speak fluent conversational Japanese and possesses an authentic understanding of Asian culture. She is especially drawn toward voicing feel-good stories that inspire women, young people, and the Asian community to feel seen, loved, and empowered. As a forever student, Sarah loves all things self-development and has acquired numerous certifications in both yoga and Pilates throughout the decade of her teaching, and has led numerous trainings throughout the world. Brian Wiggins is a Voice Arts and One Voice Award-nominated voice actor, and has lent his talents to clients such as Southern Comfort, Netflix, Champion, Tyson Foods, and Santa Helena Winery, as well as nearly 100 audiobook and narration projects, including the award-winning Frith Chronicles series. In 2022 he published his first book, The Narrator's Guide to the Universe of Audiobooks. While born in the sleepy South Jersey town of Medford (where fun goes to die), he's been living in Philadelphia for the last twenty years and proudly calls it home with his wife, and their two rescue dogs Dakota and Hurley. When not fighting evil, ne'er-do-wells, and dastards via narrating a great audiobook, he can be found putting his character voice skills to the test while running Dungeons & Dragons games for his friends, or teaching Brazilian jiu jitsu.
