Overview

Natalie Scott is widely recognized as a literary and cultural dynamo of the early 1900s. As a Red Cross nurse and translator, she was awarded the Croix de Guerre, France's highest medal for bravery, in World War I. She was also a celebrated writer and journalist in both Mexico and the United States. She founded several artistic and literary colonies, socialized with a group that included William Faulkner and Sherwood Anderson, and even created a peasant school and medical cooperative in impoverished Taxco, Mexico.
