OverviewThis publication presents an analysis of narrative interviews conducted with eight female and two male university students who enrolled in different courses at the University of Brasília through the quota system. The analysis focuses on the students' experiences in their family environment, their educational trajectory and academic experience; the development of strategies for coexistence or confrontation in the face of possible situations of segregation or neglect, as well as mechanisms for reinterpreting black identity throughout life; and the problematisation of the quota system as a conditioning factor in this process. This is an important dialogue for understanding quotas beyond statistics and performance measures.
