ReferencesReviewsAuthor InformationProfessor Suprakas Sinha Ray is Chief Research Scientist and Director of the DST/CSIR National Centre for Nanostructured Materials, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, Pretoria, South Africa. He received his PhD degree in Physical Chemistry at the University of Calcutta, India in 2001 and was a recipient of the ''Sir P.C. Ray Research Award'' for the best PhD work. Prof. Ray's current research focuses on the applications of advanced nanostructured and polymeric materials. He is one of the most active and highly cited authors in the field of polymer nanocomposite materials, and he has recently been rated by Thomson Reuters as being one of the Top 1% most impactful and influential scientists and Top50 high impact chemists. Prof. Ray is the author of 5 books, co-editor of 3 books, and has published 32 book chapters and 330 journal articles. Prof. Ray has received numerous awards, including South Africa's National Science and Technology Award (NSTF) in 2016, the CSIR-wide Leadership Award in 2014, the CSIR Human Capital Development Award in 2014, and the International Polymer Processing Society's Morand Lambla Award in 2013. He has also been appointed Extraordinary Professor by the University of Pretoria, and Distinguished Professor of Chemistry by the University of Johannesburg. Currently, he is serving as an Associate Editor of RSC Advances, and is an editorial board member of Macromolecular Materials and Engineering and the Journal of Films and Sheeting.
