OverviewDuring the last decade, the progress in nano-fabrication and nano-optical characterization has allowed researchers to design and test various plasmonic devices, first to make direct comparisons to theoretical models, and then to develope new models and concepts. Nano-Optics of Surface Polaritons, presents an overview of the theory, experimental studies and modern applications of surface plasmon waves on smooth and nanostructured surfaces. Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationAnatoly Zayats is a Professor of Physics and leads the Nano-optics and Near-field Spectroscopy Group within the Centre for Nanostructured Media at International Research Centre for Experimental Physics, the Queen's University of Belfast. His research interests lie in the areas of near-field optics, scanning probe microscopy, nano-photonics, nonlinear optics and spectroscopy, surface plasmons and polaritons, and optical properties of surfaces, thin films, semiconductors, and low-dimensional structures. He has published more than 200 research papers in these research areas. His recent research had wide-ranging positive coverage in general and professional press including Physical Review Focus, Science, the AIP Physics News, OSA Optics and Photonics News, Electronic Engineering Times, Opto & Laser Europe, Photonics Spectra, Laser Focus World, The Industrial Physicist, and Physics Today. Igor Smolyaninov is an Associate Research Scientist in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Maryland. He has published more than 150 papers in various areas of surface plasmon optics, nanophotonics, and optical metamaterials. Alexei Maradudin is a Research Professor of Physics at the University of California, Irvine. A condensed matter theorist, his research interests focus on phenomena occurring at surfaces and interfaces. These include studies of linear and nonlinear surface waves of various types, their propagation across rough surfaces, and their scattering by surface and subsurface defects; weak localization effects in the multiple scattering of light from, and its transmission through, randomly rough surfaces; inverse problems in rough surface scattering; and surface photonic crystals. He has published 400 articles devoted to these research areas. Tab Content 6Author Website:Countries AvailableAll regions |
