Nadie Es Ilegal: La Lucha Contra El Racismo Y La Violencia de Estado En La Frontera Entre México Y Estados Unidos

Overview

Nadie es ilegal debunks the leading ideas behind the often-violent rightwing backlash against immigrants. In Nadie es ilegal, scholar-activists Mike Davis and Justin Akers Chacón expose the racism of anti-immigration vigilantes and put a human face on the immigrants who daily risk their lives to cross the border to work in the United States. Countering the mounting chorus of anti-immigrant voices, Nadie es ilegal reveals immigrants' deep roots in US history, and documents the new civil rights movement that has mounted protests around the country to demand justice and dignity for immigrants. Now with a new introduction confronting the latest wave of anti-immigrant backlash, and featuring moving, evocative photos from award-winning photographer Julian Cardona, Nadie es ilegal is a must-read for anyone looking to deepen their understanding of immigrant justice movements.

Reviews

An urgent, important must-read. --Jeff Chang, author Can't Stop Won't Stop: A History of the Hip-Hop Generation Essential reading for activists. No One is Illegal examines the history of immigration, anti-immigrant violence, the neoliberal origins of contemporary immigration from Mexico, and a host of other critical topics in a single volume. The insightful conclusions drawn by the authors provide a refreshing departure from the mainstream debate over legality and address migration as human right, not as something that should be restricted based on the needs of capital or politicians. --Media Mouse
