Author Information

Anja Heikkinen is a Professor of Education in the School of Education at the University of Tampere, Finland. Her research focuses on the transformation of vocational and adult education, from a historical and cross-cultural perspective, particularly regarding sex-distinctions and equality. She has been active in a number of national and international associations and networks, and is currently engaged in a number of research projects, such as ""Freedom and Responsibility in Popular Adult Education"", ""Promoting Regional Wellbeing in Adult and Vocational Education"", and ""Human and Nonhuman Perspectives on Education of Education Professionals"".Lorenz Lassnigg is a Senior Researcher and Head of a research group on qualification, employment and innovation (www.equi.at) at the Department of Sociology of the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS), Vienna (www.ihs.ac.at). His research focuses on the political and economic aspects of education, and particularly on the implications of the politics of lifelong learning on vocational and adult education. He has served on a number of international projects with the International Labour Organization, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training, the European Training Foundation, and the European Commission.
