OverviewTito Vignoli (1828-1914) was a German scholar, anthropologist and psychologist. From 1893 until 1911 he was the director of Museo di Storia Naturale di Milano. He was one of the most popular German evolutionists in the second half of the 19th century. In Italy he was renowned for his evolutionistic theory, and also for his struggle against the Church, in support of freedom of science and thought. His works include: Myth and Science (1885), The Ideas and Sources of Myth, On Dreams, Illusions, Hallucinations, Delirium and Madness and The Intrinsic Law of the Faculty of Apprehension.
