Ireentje's thoughts, feelings, and emotions were mine, too. As I read, I laughed out loud. I teared up. I was sad as I learned how she (I) had screwed up. Though all the physical details of her life and mine are different, everything that really counts, our humanity, is the same. I can hear Ireentje talking. I am there with her.I don't know how the books could be any better. I hope for more stories about Ireentje!!!! Beautifully captures the magic of childhood through the eyes of eight-year-old Ireentje, whose small-town Canadian adventures transform the ordinary into the extraordinary. From crunchy snow and playful discoveries to secret footprints in fresh concrete, each moment is a celebration of wonder. Whether feeding chipmunks at Lake of Bays, watching bears at the dump, or navigating the joys and challenges of friendship, Ireentje's journey is a nostalgic embrace of family, change, and the boundless spirit of imagination. Author InformationDr. Crocker is an immigrant born to an immigrant and on for generations. That wanderlust rubbed off. Her parents moved from the Netherlands to Canada while her mother was expecting her. She has lived in Canada, Iowa, England, California, Texas, and Virginia. Her career has been equally varied. She trained as a scientist in microbiology and immunology and worked in medical research before teaching cell biology, microbiology, and other subjects. She also founded a nonprofit, helped start a technology company, tutored, and worked in communications. Now, she's doing what she loves: enjoying her eight grandchildren, gardening, and writing books-adult books, big kid books, little kid books, and even a book on doing microbiology in your kitchen.
