She and her siblings, Billy and Lynnellen, went on to become serious competitive skaters. Jo Ann medaled at the US National Figure Skating Championships in ice dancing in the 1970s, and in the early 1980s, she began her career as a skating coach. She has taught hundreds of skaters since then, and also taught her husband, Dan, and her own three children, Joel, Rebekah, and Annabelle, to skate.
